Leaked Pentagon documents aim to damage trust between Ukraine’s allies, says Oleksii Reznikov

OVIEDO, Spain (AA) - Ukraine Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Wednesday that the recently leaked Pentagon documents are “a mix of fact and fiction.”

“It’s clear that who benefits from this operation is Russia and its allies,” Reznikov said, calling the leak of a trove of US classified documents that recently surfaced online a “special psychological operation.”

“The goal of the operation is to damage the level of trust among allies. I’m certain that our American allies will do whatever they can to figure out where the leak came from and avoid it from happening again,” he said.

Reznikov was in Madrid meeting with his Spanish counterpart Margarita Robles.

During a joint press conference, he revealed Spain’s pivotal role in creating the coalition of countries that decided to send tanks to Kyiv.

He said it was Robles’ idea for Ukrainian troops to train on Leopard tanks in Latvia before Germany was willing to give approval for nations to start providing Ukraine with tanks.

Robles also confirmed that Madrid would send six Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine in the coming days.

Reznikov said his next big push is trying to form a coalition of countries willing to send Ukraine military airplanes.

“For us, that is our number one priority,” he added.
