Drug team finds over 2 kg of cocaine hidden in suitcase of female passenger who landed in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (AA) – A Ukrainian woman was arrested at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport after police found over two kilos of cocaine (4.4 pounds) in her suitcase, police sources said on Wednesday.

Drug teams, together with anti-smuggling squads, searched the suitcase of the passenger, identified by the initials Y.B., who landed in Istanbul from Sao Paulo, Brazil on Oct. 31, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Two kilos and 50 grams of cocaine hidden in tin cans was found in the suitcase of the suspect, who was later remanded into custody, the sources added.
