ISTANBUL (AA) - The annual consumer inflation rate in the UK eased to 2.6% in March, down from 2.8% in February, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said on Wednesday.
The figure came below the market expectations of 2.7% for the month.
The largest downward contributions to annual inflation came from recreation and culture, and motor fuel.
The ONS said the monthly inflation in the country was 0.3% in March, down from 0.4% in February.
The monthly inflation figure was also below the market forecasts of 0.4% for March.
The UK's annual core inflation rate, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, was 3.4% in March, also down from 3.5% in February.
