BRUSSELS (AA) - Undocumented migrants, who have been residing in Belgium without any permits for years, staged a protest against the government on Friday.
The demonstrators gathered in front of the Immigration Office in Brussels, carrying banners that read: "The only solution: to give legal status," "No human being is illegal," and "We are in solidarity with the paperless".
Pierre Robert, a volunteer lawyer and one of the demonstrators, told Anadolu that there are more than 110,000 individuals residing in the country without proper legal documentation.
Robert stated that the protestors are demanding transparent criteria for the legalization of their immigration status.
There is currently "no real political will" to do it in Belgium, Robert said.
