ISTANBUL (AA) - China's unemployment rate was stable in 2024 at 5.1%, down 0.1% from 2023, according to official data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Friday.
The unemployment rate of the population with local household registration was 5.3% and the population with non-local household registration was 4.6%.
According to the data, the unemployment rate of the population with non-local agricultural household registration was 4.5%.
The urban unemployment rate in 31 major cities in China in December was 5.0%.
In 2024, the number of rural migrant workers totaled 299.73 million, 2.2 million more than the previous year, up 0.7%.
Local migrant workers totaled 121.02 million, up 0.1%, and outbound migrant workers totaled 178.71 million, up 1.2%.
In December, the annual unemployment rate was also at 5.1%, up 0.1% from November's reading.
