ISTANBUL (AA) - The governor of Russia’s southeastern Saratov region said on Thursday that an “unidentified object” was shot down over the city of Engels.
“On the territory of the Engels region, the air defense system worked. An unidentified object was destroyed. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene. There is no threat to the safety of residents,” Roman Busargin said in a message on Telegram.
Busargin said that no evacuation from the city is required.
More than 120 Russian missiles were reported to have been launched against Ukraine earlier in the day, with local authorities in the capital Kyiv and the cities of Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, and Kryvyi Rih having reported explosions and power outages in their respective regions.
On Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry said three Russian servicemen were killed by the wreckage of a Ukrainian drone destroyed near a military airfield in Engels.
