ANKARA/ISTANBUL (AA) - At least 62 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in two Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza, according to Palestinian medical sources.

The first strike hit Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid near the Al-Shohada Junction in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, killing 23 people and wounding dozens, according to the Al-Awda Hospital.

Witnesses told Anadolu that many of the dead and wounded remain on the ground, with rescue efforts hindered by bombardment and unsafe conditions.

In the latest airstrikes, medical sources told Anadolu that three Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli bombing that targeted a civilian gathering near the Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City.

It was reported that the death toll rose to seven following an Israeli strike less than two hours earlier on a gathering of civilians west of the Al-Ayoun junction on Al-Nasr Street in western Gaza City.

Seven more Palestinians, including a child, were killed and others injured, in an airstrike targeting civilians in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City.

Two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike targeting the Sharafi family home in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of the city, shortly before the strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.

In central Gaza Strip, two Palestinians were killed and others injured in an airstrike targeting the Al-Adaini family home in Deir al-Balah

In a separate attack, 11 more Palestinians were killed when an Israeli strike hit a residential building in Deir al-Balah, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

Two Palestinians were killed and 10 others injured when an Israeli drone targeted a group of civilians near Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, medics told Anadolu.

Another drone strike killed one person and wounded others in the Shejaiya neighborhood, east of the city, they added.

In southern Gaza, 13-year-old Rafif Alaa Khalil Al-Bureim was shot dead by Israeli forces near the industrial zone north of Khan Younis, while several civilians were also injured, according to medics.

In a separate drone attack near Al-Sunniya Mosque in Khan Younis, three Palestinians were killed, they said.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 55,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
