ADDS OPERATION IN HAKKARI
ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) - Two PKK terrorists were neutralized Sunday in operations in Turkey's eastern province of Erzurum, the regional governor’s office said.
In a statement, the office said the neutralized terrorists were in the “grey category” of the Turkish Interior Ministry's most wanted terrorists list.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the terrorist in question was either killed or captured.
Operations in the province’s Karayazi-Elmali Dere region remain ongoing, the office added.
Separately, security forces neutralized 12 PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Hakkari on Sunday, military sources said.
The terrorists were hit by F-4 warplanes in the Cukurca district.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year and has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,100 security force members and civilians, including women and children.
