TRENTON, Canada (AA) – Two people are dead and a suspect was killed by police Monday in a shooting spree in a small Canadian town.
A third victim is in hospital in critical condition in Langley, British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. Langley is a city of about 26,000, southeast of Vancouver.
In a news release, the mounted police said the suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene, while in another area two deceased men and a woman were found.
Earlier Monday, the mounted police put out an emergency alert via cellphone for people to avoid downtown Langley.
Later, police issued another alert saying the suspect "is no longer a threat" after they "interacted" with a man with dark hair wearing overalls and a camouflage shirt. He was also associated with a white car.
At that time the police said they believed the shootings to be targeted, but now say they are unsure of the motive behind the shootings.
