ANKARA (AA) – British King Charles III arrived in London on Friday after leaving Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where his mother Queen Elizabeth II died a day earlier.
The king arrived in London with his wife Camilla, the queen consort.
He traveled to Buckingham Palace and greeted the crowds at the palace gates.
The crowd cheered “God save The King” as Charles shook the hands of members of the public.
Charles will meet Prime Minister Liz Truss and later address the nation.
Elizabeth, Britain's longest-serving monarch, died at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.
She has been succeeded by her son Charles, who left London as the prince of Wales and returned as the king.
