BEIJING (AA) – At least 30 people were killed Sunday when a passenger bus caught fire in China after crashing into guardrails on a highway in central Hunan province.

State news agency Xinhua cited the government of Yizhang County as saying that the vehicle, which was carrying 56 people, may have burst into flames due to an ensuing oil leak.

At least 21 injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Police took the driver of the bus into custody and rescuers continue searching the charred vehicle.
