UPDATES WITH ERDOGAN'S CONGRATULATIONS FOR EURO CUP SUCCESS

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey’s Darussafaka has won the Euro Cup title after beating Russia's Lokomotiv Kuban 67-59 in Istanbul.

The Istanbul club took a 2-0 series lead and became the Euro Cup champions. They defeated Lokomotiv Kuban 81-78 in Russia last week.

Scottie Wilbekin was again on top form. He finished with 28 points for Darussafaka and was selected as the final's Most Valuable Player.

The cup was Darussafaka's first in European competitions and eighth in Turkish basketball history.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the Turkish club for their success in the competition.

The President's Press Office said Erdogan sent a telegram to Darussafaka Sports Club Chair Umit Baskirt to congratulate the team for its Euro Cup victory.

Turkish Basketball Federation Chairman Hidayet Turkoglu also congratulated Darussafaka for winning the Euro Cup title in a post on Twitter.
