ISTANBUL (AA) - New coronavirus infections and deaths were recorded in several Arab countries, according to health authorities Thursday.

Cases in Oman rose to 1,019 after 109 additional cases were reported.

Health officials said 45 patients have recovered, raising that number to 176, while the death toll reached four.

Citizens are advised to adhere to quarantine measures.

Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry said fatalities stand at 83, with 6,380 infections.

Agency spokesman Mohammed Abd al-Aly said four deaths and 518 new cases were reported Thursday, while the number of recoveries is 990.

Qatar’s tally rose to 4,103 as 392 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, according to its Health Ministry.

The death toll stands at seven, while 415 patients have recovered, it said.

Lebanon’s case count is at 663 after five patients tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Health officials said 85 patients have recovered, while the death toll stands at 21.

Algeria’s death toll rose to 348 after 12 fatalities were recorded in 24 hours, while recoveries stand at 783, the country’s Health Ministry said.

A total of 108 new cases pushed the country’s count to 2,268.


The death toll rose to 80 in Iraq after another fatality was confirmed, according to the Health Ministry that confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total there to 1,434, along with 856 recoveries.

Globally, more than 2.13 million people have been infected by the virus, with the death toll exceeding 142,100, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 540,500 people recovered so far.
