ISTANBUL (AA) – At least four people were killed and several injured in a train crash early Thursday in southern Finland, according to police.

Finnish authorities reported a military transport vehicle collided with a train in Raseborg at Leksvallintie, 98 kilometers (60 miles) southwest of the capital, Helsinki.

The Defense Ministry wrote on its website that three of the dead were military personel while four others were injured.

Finnish public-broadcaster YLE reported that another victim was a passenger on the train.

Flags at military posts around the country will be lowered to half-mast Thursday, the report added.

"The morning began with grim news from Raseborg. I feel sorrow," Jussi Niinisto, Finnish defense minister, tweeted earlier.
