UPDATES WITH FLAMES TAKEN UNDER CONTROL, CHANGES DECK, HEADLINE, CHANGES THROUGHOUT

MUGLA, Turkey (AA) - Turkish firefighters battled a fire that consumed scrubland near the southwestern resort town of Bodrum on Tuesday.
Fanned by strong winds, the flames threatened residential areas in the Gundogan neighborhood, 13 kilometers (8 miles) north of the Bodrum’s city center.
Six water trucks, three helicopters and several firefighter squads were dispatched to the site with local residents also helping the squads.
After hours of intense efforts, the fire was brought under control towards the evening. Efforts to cool down the area is ongoing.
The Bodrum peninsula is a popular holiday destination in Turkey's southwestern province of Mugla.
