ZEIST, Netherlands (AA) - Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat has been unveiled as the Dutch national team’s manager for a third time.

The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) made the announcement in the city of Zeist on Tuesday.

According to the KNVB, Advocaat will immediately take up his Dutch role if Fenerbahce are eliminated from the Turkish Ziraat Cup competition on May 17, when they take on Medipol Basaksehir at home.

Advocaat -- if he departs the club on May 18 -- would leave Fenerbahce without a manager for the Istanbul side’s remaining three league matches.

Fenerbahce has yet to confirm the information.

The Netherlands fired previous head coach Danny Blind after a World Cup qualification group stage loss to Bulgaria on March 26.

Sixty-nine-year-old Advocaat managed many teams throughout his career, including the Dutch, Belgian, Russian and Serbian national sides, as well as PSV Eindhoven, Glasgow Rangers and Sunderland.

Former Dutch star Ruud Gullit was also named as assistant coach.
