UPDATES WITH HOUTHIS’ STATEMENT

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Israeli army claimed Tuesday evening that it had intercepted a missile from Yemen.
A military statement said that the missile attack triggered air-raid sirens in multiple areas across the country, including most of Jerusalem, Ben Gurion Airport, Modiin, Rishon Lezion, and some West Bank settlements.
The army said the missile was shot down by air forces.
No injuries were reported.
Separately, the Houthi group in Yemen announced that it had launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport and attacked three other “sensitive” targets in Israeli cities using drones.
In a televised statement, Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi-aligned forces, said: “Our forces carried out four military operations today. One of them targeted Lod Airport (Ben Gurion Airport) in the Yaffa area (central Tel Aviv) using a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile.”
He added that the other three operations targeted “sensitive Zionist enemy sites” in Yaffa, Ashkelon, and Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) with three drones.
Since November 2023, the Houthis have launched missile and drone strikes on Israeli targets and targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 56,600 people have been killed in the Israeli offensive.
