JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli soldier was shot and injured on Wednesday by a cross-border fire from Lebanon, according to the Israeli army.
The military said in a statement the soldier was lightly wounded near the town of Metula in northern Israel near Lebanese border.
"The soldier was wounded by shrapnel to his hand and received treatment at the scene," it added.
Another cross-border fire was reported without injuries.
The border area between Israel and Lebanon has remained largely calm since a 2006 war between Israel and Lebanese group Hezbollah.
