ISTANBUL (AA) - South Korean police failed again Wednesday to search the presidential office concerning a martial law bid by former President Yoon Suk Yeol, Yonhap News reported Wednesday.

The police's attempt to conduct the raid in relation to charges of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant against Yoon was blocked by the Presidential Security Service.

Police withdrew after a 10-and-a-half-hour standoff with the presidential security service, which was obstructing search efforts.

The targets of the search included the secret phone server of the Presidential Security Service and documents found at the residence of the service's chief.

Police intended to seize the materials to demonstrate that Yoon attempted to obstruct the initial arrest attempt on Jan. 3 through the Presidential Security Service.

The incident is the fourth failure at the presidential compound since Yoon's impeachment in December, due to the refusal of the presidential security staff to cooperate with police and investigators.

Earlier this month, South Korea’s Constitutional Court removed Yoon from office over his bid to impose martial law.

The country will elect a new president in snap polls on June 3.
