DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) - One police officer was martyred and seven people, including another policeman, were injured after a bomb-wired car, targeting a police vehicle, detonated in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province on Tuesday.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, sources said that one of the two injured policemen succumbed to his injuries in Diyarbakir Military Hospital on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency correspondents at the scene, two policemen and six civilians had initially been injured in the attack, blamed on the PKK terrorist group, in the Dicle district of Diyarbakir.

There were damages in nearby buildings after the bomb attack.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 7,700 PKK terrorists neutralized in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
