ISTANBUL (AA) – Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Doha on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Merz arrived in the Qatari capital early in the day from Saudi Arabia, as part of a Gulf tour aimed at discussing cooperation in the energy and arms sectors, according to Qatari media.
A Foreign Ministry statement said discussions between Sheikh Mohammed and Merz reviewed relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to exchanging views on the latest developments in the region, without providing further details.
Merz held talks in Riyadh on Wednesday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, though no further details were released, the Saudi Press Agency said.
His current tour also includes a stop in the United Arab Emirates.
German broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported earlier this week that Merz’s tour aims to strengthen cooperation with the three Gulf countries in energy supplies and arms.
