UPDATE- Saudi Arabia reports 32 new deaths from COVID-19

Additional 1,975 cases in S. Arabia push tally to over 93,000, while UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan see rather low daily counts

RIYADH/ABU DHABI/BEIRUT/BAGHDAD/AMMAN (AA) - Saudi Arabia on Thursday registered 32 new deaths from COVID-19, while it claimed three lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one in Lebanon, and 15 in Iraq, while the Jordanian death toll remained the same.

According to the Saudi Health Ministry, the death toll from COVID-19 rose to 611, while a further of 1,975 cases brought the total count to 93,157, including 68,965 recoveries.

In the UAE, the death toll climbed to 273 with three more deaths while the total cases were counted at 37,038 with 659 additions. A total of 19,572 recovered in the county, said the Health Ministry.

In Lebanon, the Health Ministry confirmed one more death and 50 new cases. The case toll rose to 1,306, including 28 deaths, and 731 recoveries.

Iraq's Health Ministry, said the death toll from COVID-19 rose to 271, with 15 new deaths, while a further of 672 cases brought the total infections to 8,840.

Iraq's total recoveries reached 4,338, while in the capital Baghdad -- the most virus-affected region across Iraq -- Thursday's tally included eight deaths and 363 cases.

For its part, the Jordanian Health Ministry reported eight additional cases and five new recoveries from the pandemic, bringing the total infection count to 765.

Jordan has so far confirmed nine deaths, with 565 recoveries in total.

The pandemic has claimed more than 386,600 lives worldwide after infecting some 6.54 million people, while recoveries are now above 2.83 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
