ISTANBUL (AA) – A Moscow court on Tuesday ordered that Daria Trepova, the suspect accused of killing a Russian military correspondent in a bomb blast, will remain in pre-trial detention for two months.
Trepova has been charged with terrorism offenses for Sunday’s blast at a cafe in St. Petersburg, which killed Vladlen Tatarsky and injured 40 others.
The Basmanny district court granted the prosecution’s request and remanded Trepova, 26, in custody until June 2.
The Russian Investigative Committee has charged Trepova with committing “a terrorist act by an organized group that caused intentional death” and illegal possession of explosives.
A committee statement said Trepova “brought a statuette filled with explosives to a cafe in the center of St. Petersburg and handed it over to military correspondent Maxim Fomin, known under the pseudonym Vladlen Tatarsky.”
She carried out the attack on “instructions of persons operating from the territory of Ukraine,” read the statement posted on Telegram.
Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee earlier accused Ukraine’s special services of being involved in the blast.
