*UPDATES WITH INCREASED DEATH TOLL
TEHRAN (AA) - At least 36 people were killed when two passenger trains collided in Iran's northern Semnan province Friday morning, according to local officials and press reports.
"A total of 31 bodies have been pulled from the wreckage," Semnan Governor Mohammad Reza Khabbaz said on state television.
Another 95 people were injured in the accident, according to a statement released by the Iranian Red Crescent.
Iran’s official IRINN news agency reported that the collision occurred at the Haft-Khan train station in Semnan’s city of Shahroud.
Search-and-rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the crash site, where they are treating the injured.
