ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,391.91 points on Monday, down 1.94% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,405.45 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 27.52 points from Friday's close of 1,419.43 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,386.33 points, while its daily high was 1,407.67 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.05 trillion Turkish liras ($123 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 11.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).
A total of seven stocks on the index rose, while 93 fell, compared to Friday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lenders Garanti BBVA and Yapi Kredi.
Shares of real estate investment trust Is Gayrimenkul performed the best, up 1.63%, while stocks of investment company Borusan Yatirim ve Pazarlama dropped the most, 8.57%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,760.50 by market close, down from $1,764.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $74.50 per barrel with a 1.1% loss as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
