BIST 100 loses over 1,150 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 103,876.56 points on Tuesday, dropping 1.10% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 105,274.97 points. As of daily close, it lost 1,156.46 points from Monday's close of 105,033.02 points.

During Tuesday's trading, the index's lowest level was 103,189.15 points and the highest was 105,297.46 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 693.3 billion Turkish liras ($122.85 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 9.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.67 billion).

On the second transaction day of the week, 35 stocks on the index rose, 61 were down, and four were flat compared to Monday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti, and state lender Halkbank.

Automotive components manufacturer Ege Endustri was the best performer on Tuesday, with its shares up 4.56%, while stocks of real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul dropped most, down 5.15%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,463.70 by market close, down from $1,488.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $59.60 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Tuesday.
