BIST 100 loses more than 120 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 100,215.95 points on Friday, down 0.13% versus Thursday's close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 100,272.11 points. As of daily close, it lost 126.69 points from Thursday's close of 100,345.64 points.

During Friday's trading, the index's lowest level was 100,043.30 points and the highest was 100,672.95 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 677.29 billion Turkish liras ($117.96 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.5 billion Turkish liras ($951.4 million).

On the last transaction day of the week, 45 stocks on the index rose, 45 were down, and 10 were flat compared to Thursday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense giant Aselsan, and Garanti.

Conglomerate Metro Holding was the best performer on Friday, with its shares up 7.14%, while stocks of Celebi Hava Servisi, which provides integrated ground services at airports, dropped most, down 3.94%

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,504.80 by market close, up from $1,490.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $61.60 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
