ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of a NATO leaders' summit in The Hague.
During his meeting with Macron, Erdogan said that Syria’s new administration is acting cautiously to avoid regional conflicts and stressed that Israel’s security depends on the stability of its neighbors.
Welcoming the recent ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Erdogan stressed the need for lasting calm and emphasized the urgency of a lasting ceasefire in Gaza amid the enclave’s deepening humanitarian crisis.
Including non-EU allies in Europe’s new security and defense is beneficial, said the Turkish president, urging a long-term, strategic approach to Turkish-EU relations.
Erdogan is holding a series of bilateral meetings with leaders in The Hague during the summit, which ends Wednesday.
