ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul on Thursday gained 0.61% to close at a new record high level of 2,475.41 points, after hitting a fresh intraday all-time high of 2,485.32 points.
Starting the day at 2,480.92 points, the BIST 100 index increased 14.98 points from Wednesday's close of 2,460.43 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 2,461.54 points, while its daily high was 2,485.32 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 2 trillion Turkish liras ($137.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 44.7 billion Turkish liras ($3 billion).
During the fourth transaction day of the week, 73 stocks on the index rose, 24 fell, and three remained unchanged, compared to Wednesday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut.
Emlak Konut was the best performer of the day with its shares up 9.96%, while another real estate investment trust Is Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi saw the biggest drop, 9.95%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,973.50 by market close, down from $1,978.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was $105.16 per barrel after a 6.8% daily gain as of 6.05 p.m. local time (1505GMT).
