UPDATE - Turkish stocks end week up 0.66%

BIST 100 index increased by 679.20 points from Thursday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.69

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the day up 0.66% to close at 103,463.52 points on Friday.

Starting the day at 103,177.00 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 679.20 points from Thursday's close at 102,784.33 points.

During Friday's trading, the index's lowest level was 102,823.91 points and the highest was 103,875.17 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 691.8 billion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.39 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 47 stocks on the index rose, seven were down, and 46 were flat compared to Thursday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti BBVA, and state lender Halkbank.

ICBC Turkey Bank (ICBCT) was the best performer on Friday, with its shares up 15.90%, while stocks of information technologies company Netas Telekom, dropped the most, down 6.37%.

An ounce of gold sold for $1,510.30 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,500.40 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was $58.66 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT) on Friday -- with a day range of $57.64 to $58.95.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil sold for around $53.
