ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,391.74 points on Monday, rising 0.51% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,393.19 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 7.06 points from Friday's close of 1,384.68 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,380.81 points, while its daily high was 1,397.71 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.05 trillion Turkish liras ($119.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 12.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
A total of 55 stocks on the index rose, 39 fell, and six were flat compared to Friday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lenders Garanti BBVA, and energy giant Tupras.
Shares of Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines performed the best, up 4.67%, while stocks of supermarket chain Sok Marketler dropped the most, 3.56%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,750.55 by market close, up from $1,747.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $78.67 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the highest level since October 2018.
