ISTANBUL (AA) - Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party unanimously re-elected 68-year-old To Lam as general secretary for the 2026-2031 term, according to an announcement on the government news portal.
The 14th Central Committee for the term convened its first plenum on Friday morning at the Party Central Committee headquarters, formally marking the start of the new term.
During the plenum, a series of key tasks were completed and the politburo, the party secretary general and the secretariat got elected.
In the afternoon, the five-day 14th National Congress of the Communist Party also concluded with a closing session in Hanoi, after delegates reviewed key reports.
