WASHINGTON (AA) - The US on Monday condemned an attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco during demonstrations over the weekend by Sikh protesters.
"We condemn the acts of violence against the Indian Consulate in San Francisco," White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan wrote on Twitter.
"We are committed to the safety and security of these facilities and the diplomats who work within them. The State Department is in touch with local law enforcement on next steps in this matter," he added.
An investigation has been launched into the incident on Sunday, during which protestors smashed the windows of the consulate as dozens of them gathered around the building, local authorities said. India’s High Commission in London was also attacked by protestors on Sunday.
“We certainly condemn that vandalism," White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said during Monday's daily press briefing.
