US Federal Reserve Chair tests positive for coronavirus

Jerome Powell is vaccinated, has mild symptoms, working remotely, US central bank says

ISTANBUL (AA) - US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell tested positive for the coronavirus, the central bank announced Wednesday.

Powell is experiencing mild symptoms and is up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, it said.

"Following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, he is working remotely while isolating at home," it said in a statement.

The Fed's first two-day meeting of 2023 will conclude Feb. 1. After each meeting, the chair holds a news conference.
