ISTANBUL (AA) – The US has welcomed the strategic agreements between Syria and Saudi Arabia signed on Saturday, which cover aviation, telecommunications, infrastructure, and real estate, said US Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack.

“Strategic partnerships in aviation, infrastructure, and telecommunications will contribute meaningfully to Syria's reconstruction efforts,” he said on US social media company X on Saturday.

“As US President Donald Trump has emphasized, regional stability is best achieved when nations of the region take responsibility for their own future—and this partnership delivers on that principle,” he added.

Syria and Saudi Arabia signed a series of major strategic agreements in the capital, Damascus, to strengthen telecommunications infrastructure, develop digital connectivity systems, and shape a new phase of partnership based on mutual trust and respect, said Talal al-Hilali, head of the Syrian Investment Authority.

Saudi Arabia has been among the region’s most supportive states of Syria’s new administration since the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime, with the two countries intensifying high-level exchanges and signing multiple agreements, particularly in the economic sphere, to support Syria’s reconstruction.
