ANKARA (AA) - The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims last week fell by 8,000 to 210,000, the US Labor Department announced on Thursday.
The market estimate for initial jobless claims was to come in at 215,000. The previous week's level was kept unchanged at 218,000.
The four-week moving average was 206,750, an increase of 7,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 199,500.
The US economy generated 428,000 jobs in April, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6% from the previous month, according to the latest figures.
