ANKARA (AA) – The US job openings and the number of workers quitting their jobs hit the highest levels on record in March, official data showed on Tuesday.
According to the Labor Department, employers posted 11.5 million job openings in March, the highest level since December 2000, when the data began to be released.
Job openings increased in retail trade (+155,000) and in durable goods manufacturing (+50,000), while they decreased in transportation, warehousing, and utilities (-69,000); state and local government education (-43,000); and federal government (-20,000).
The hiring rate, on the other hand, remained stable at 4.5%.
Meanwhile, the number of times workers quit their jobs also hit a record level of 4.5 million in March.
