KYIV, Ukraine/ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that the US offered a trilateral meeting at the level of national security advisors, with Russia and Ukraine, to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Zelenskyy's remarks came as he answered journalists' questions via social media platforms, Ukrainian media reported.

He said he would support the meeting if certain important decisions, such as prisoner exchanges, are made.

Zelenskyy also said meetings in the format were held in Türkiye, and prisoner swaps were made as a result of those talks.

Work is ongoing on the peace plan proposed by Washington, and the Ukrainian delegation is continuing talks in the US, said Zelenskyy.

The most difficult issues discussed in the talks are the question of Ukraine's territorial integrity, security guarantees, the allocation of financial support for reconstruction and the management of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, he noted.

For the war to end, it might be appropriate for Ukrainian and Russian armies to remain on the front line for now, Zelenskyy stated.

The Ukrainian president argued he has not seen a willingness from Russia to end the war, but he indicated that the US said Russia wants to end the war.
