WASHINGTON (AA) - The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Thursday rescinded four Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) that had been in effect over parts of the Caribbean region, including airspace in Venezuela.
The FAA said it also removed advisories affecting airspace over Curacao, Puerto Rico's capital of San Juan, and the Piarco Flight Information Regions.
"These NOTAMs were issued as precautionary measures and are no longer necessary.
"Safety remains our top priority, and we look forward to facilitating the return of regular travel between the U.S. and Venezuela," it said on US social media company X.
The announcement came after President Donald Trump said the US would soon open all commercial airspace over Venezuela.
"I just spoke to the President of Venezuela, informed her that we're going to be opening up all commercial airspace over Venezuela," Trump said at a Cabinet meeting, referring to Delcy Rodriguez.
Trump said Americans "very shortly" will be able to go to Venezuela, and "they'll be safe there."
