US resumes normal flights to, from Turkey

America's aviation authority lifts restriction on commercial, private air travel

WASHINGTON (AA) – The U.S. resumed flights to Turkey on Monday following a restriction on air travel amid a coup attempt.

In a brief statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said that all restrictions on flights to and from Turkey had been lifted at 1.45 p.m. (1745GMT).

All commercial and private flights between the U.S. and Turkey on Saturday after a rogue element of Turkey's military made an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the government in Ankara Friday night.

Turkish Airlines, Turkey's national carrier, confirmed the ban has been lifted.
