US Senate blocks House-passed stopgap funding bill

WASHINGTON (AA) - The US Senate on Friday rejected a House-passed bill to fund the federal government through Nov. 21.

By a vote of 44-48, the Senate did not pass H.R. 5371, Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026.

Republican senators Rand Paul and Lisa Murkowski voted no.

Sen. John Fetterman was the only Democratic senator who voted in favor of the measure, which passed the House earlier Friday by a 217-212 vote.
