WASHINGTON (AA) - The US State Department made a determination approving a possible sale of Patriot Program sustainment and follow-on technical support and related equipment to Kuwait, the Pentagon said on Wednesday.

The estimated cost is $800 million, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement.

"The proposed sale will improve Kuwait’s capability to meet current and future threats by assisting it in maintaining higher levels of operational readiness while meeting its modernization and professionalization goals," it added.

The agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on Wednesday.
