NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened lower on Wednesday ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

The Dow fell 38 points to begin trading at 20,911 while the S&P lost 5 points to 2,385.

The Nasdaq decreased by 24 points to start the day at 6,071.

Apple shares lost 2.2 percent at the opening bell, after the firm's revenue did not meet market expectations and iPhone sales fell year-over-year during the January-March period this year, according to financial results the company announced Tuesday.

The Fed will announce its interest rate decision at 1800 GMT on Wednesday.
