NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened lower Friday after the announcement of key macroeconomic data.
The Dow fell 39 points to begin trading at 20,879 points, and the S&P 500 lost 4 points to fall at 2,389.
The Nasdaq decreased 4 points to start the day at 6,111 points.
Consumer price index rose 0.2 percent in April, compared to the previous month, according to the U.S. Department of Labor earlier Friday.
Retail sales increased 0.4 percent in April from the previous month.
