US trade deficit falls to lowest level in 11 months

NEW YORK (AA) - Indexes in the stock market opened at record high levels on Thursday as the U.S.' trade deficit decreased in August.

The Dow Jones increased 9 points to begin the day at 22,671 points.

The S&P 500 added 4 points to start trading at 2,541 points, and the Nasdaq jumped 29 points to 6,564 points.

All three indexes closed Wednesday at their all-time highest levels.

The U.S.' trade deficit fell 2.7 percent in August, compared with the previous month, to $42.4 billion -- its lowest level in 11 months.
