ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks closed the week Friday mostly flat.
While the US-UK trade deal Thursday reflected positively on the markets, the upcoming US-China trade talks are uncertain.
On Thursday, the US announced talks in Switzerland to discuss tariffs with China.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said Friday that US President Donald Trump will not unilaterally reduce tariffs on China before Beijing makes concessions.
At the closing bell, the Dow was up 0.29% or 119.07 points, to 41,249.38.
The S&P 500 index added 0.07%, or 4.03 points, to 5,659.91, while the Nasdaq index was unchanged at 17,928.92.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the “fear index,” fell 2.58% to 21.9.
