ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks rebounded Friday to end with sharp increases after losing ground Thursday.
After a highly volatile week related to US tariffs on many countries, particularly China and the EU, American stocks ended the week on a positive note.
US President Donald Trump's reciprocity-based tariffs and escalating tensions with China led to fluctuations in global markets all week.
China imposed a 125% tariff on imports from the US in response to Washington's tariff increase.
The Dow added 1.56%, or 619.05 points, to end the day at 40,212.71. It lost more than 1,000 points at the previous close.
The S&P 500 gained 1.81%, or 95.31 points, to 5,363.36, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.06%, or 337.14 points, to 16,724.46.
