WASHINGTON (AA) - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Monday about regional issues, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.
They "discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire – despite Hamas’s obstructionism – and bring the hostages home," State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement.
On the Russia-Ukraine war, the two officials agreed that it must be brought to an end, Bruce added.
Both Rubio and Lammy also "reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Iran never develops or acquires a nuclear weapon," she said.
They also exchanged views on the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
