ISTANBUL (AA) - 68-year-old To Lam was unanimously elected as Secretary General of Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party until 2031, retaining his position.
The 14th Central Committee for the 2026–2031 term convened its first plenum on Friday morning at the Party Central Committee headquarters, formally marking the start of the new term, according to the Vietnam News website.
During the plenum, a series of key tasks were completed and the politburo, the party secretary general and the secretariat were elected.
In the afternoon, the Congress was completed with a closing session in Hanoi.
