DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) - One security officer was martyred and another injured in southeastern Turkey on Friday in a clash with the PKK terrorist group.
A statement by the provincial governor's office said that initially two village guards were wounded in a clash with the PKK early Friday in Diyarbakir's Silvan district.
En route to the hospital, one of the village guards succumbed to his wounds.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
